Who was Avicii?
Avicii was 18 years old when he started producing his own music. Pete Tong, Tiësto, and other electronic music legends helped make Avicii the star he was destined to become. Avicii’s remixes and singles got people talking and listening. So much so, that his “Levels” song went platinum across 10 countries. Some of his famous remixes include tracks from Dizzee Rascal, Little Boots, and Robyn. Other than “Levels”, his own singles, “Bromance”, “Seek Bromance” and “My Feelings for You” were popular tracks at clubs and parties around the world.
That was just the beginning for Avicii. The Universal Music Group-signed artist’s career really took off from there. Avicii’s work on future-classic songs “Wake Me Up”, “Hey Brother”, “Addicted to You”, and his collaboration on Coldplay’s “A Sky Full of Stars” songs were chart-toppers and still are. His music also continues to be popular on music streaming apps.
2014 was a breakthrough year for Avicii, with the release of his much-loved “True: Avicii by Avicii” album. Then, in 2015, his second album “Stories” hit the charts. The “Stories” album featured songs with music heavyweights Wyclef Jean, Martin Garrix, Zac Brown and Matisyahu. This album made him a global music icon.
Avicii decided to retire from music production the following year because of the concerns he had about his health. Nevertheless, he carried on performing with his last performance on Ibiza being one to be remembered. Tragedy struck on 28 April 2018, when he passed away in Muscat, Oman. The world mourned his passing and Avicii’s final album, a year on, will be shared with the world soon.
