March was a phenomenal month for music and streaming songs on your favourite music app. There was plenty of news together with the latest album releases to enjoy. Let’s see if you’ve missed out on any of the most-popular streamed songs last month or if you’re one of the fans that helped make them the most-streamed tracks.

South African hip-hop heavyweight AKA made waves. The one-night-only AKA Orchestra concert was a hit. Be sure to watch the exclusive behind-the-scenes videos on the JOOX app.

One of South Africa’s top rappers Shane Eagle hinted that he might be signing up to J. Cole’s Dreamville Records but that turned out not to be the case. Nevertheless, Shane Eagle performed with the Dreamville crew and he had a studio recording session with Dreamville’s rapper Bas.

Afrikaans music streaming was dominated by the ever-popular Kurt Darren, Jo Black, and Demi-Lee Moore, followed by Snotkop and Dirk van der Westhuizen.

It was an energetic month for electronic music. The dance music world belonged to Prince Kaybee in March. His “Re Mmino” 2019 album met his fans’ expectations. Prince Kaybee’s latest album features from hitmakers Afro Brothers Bluelle, Supta, Msaki, Busiswa, Rose, and Indlovukazi.

Pop is still ruled by the glamorous Ariana Grande as the most streamed pop artist in SA for March. The world of hip-hop still belongs to rap royalty Cardi B whose songs were streamed the most in the hip-hop genre.
